John F. Kennedy's Vision of Peace

On November 22nd, 1963, my uncle, president John F. Kennedy, went to Dallas intending to condemn as "nonsense" the right-wing notion that "peace is a sign of weakness." He meant to argue that the best way to demonstrate American strength was not by using destructive weapons and threats but by being a nation that "practices what it preaches about equal rights and social justice," striving toward peace instead of "aggressive ambitions." Despite the Cold War rhetoric of his campaign, JFK's greatest ambition as president was to break the militaristic ideology that has dominated our country since World War II. He told his close friend Ben Bradlee that he wanted the epitaph "He kept the peace,"

Legendary Talk Show Host Phil Donahue on the Silencing of Antiwar Voices in U.S. Media

Phil Donahue is one of the best-known talk show hosts in U.S. television history. The Phil Donahue Show was on the air for almost 30 years, until 1996. In 2002, Donahue returned to the airwaves, but was fired by MSNBC on the eve of the 2003 U.S.-led war in Iraq because he was allowing antiwar voices on the air. We talk to Donahue about his firing and the silencing of antiwar voices by the corporate media — that continues to this day.                                               >Amy interview with Phil<

Paralyzed Iraq War Vet Turned Peace Activist Tomas Young Dies on Eve of Veterans Day

As the nation marks Veterans Day, we remember the Iraq War veteran Tomas Young, who died this week at the age of 34. He enlisted in the military just after the Sept. 11 attacks. On April 4, 2004 — his fifth day in Iraq — Young’s unit came under fire in the Baghdad neighborhood of Sadr City. Young was shot and left paralyzed, never to walk again. Young returned home and became an active member of Iraq Veterans Against the War. He remained in and out of the hospital for the rest of his life. Young was later featured in the documentary "Body of War" directed by Ellen Spiro and the legendary television broadcaster Phil Donahue. We broadcast excerpts of the film and past Democracy Now! interviews with Young. Donahue joins us in studio to discuss the impact Young made in the antiwar and veteran communities and the making the film, which was nominated for an Academy Award.

German journalist reveals in bestseller that Western Media is paid by the CIA to print propaganda instead of the news.

There is nothing new about this except the extent.  Always there have been media, reporters, and columnists who published false information in order to help the CIA advance undeclared agendas.  The difference is that today the CIA's influence is pervasive. Objective reporting is a thing of the past.

Is Blackwater Finally Going to Be Held Accountable for Civilian Deaths?

August 28, 2014
Controversial case is one of few in which US forces have been tried for civilian deaths in Iraq.
One of the darkest days of the US occupation of Iraq was relived in a Washington courtroom on Wednesday as the prosecution of four Blackwater security contractors accused of killing 14 civilians in a mistaken attack in Baghdad reached an emotional and legal climax. Seven years after the bloody shooting in Baghdad’s Nisour Square that left a total of 17 Iraqis dead and more than 20 seriously wounded, jurors were told of the “shocking amount of death, injury and destruction” that saw “innocent men, women and children mowed down” by private guards working for the US State Department                                              > closing arguments <
I am unable to switch off trying to fathom what I've seen heard and read all day.
There were a lot of mix messages coming out from Ramallah, Gaza and Tel Aviv.
First Mahmoud Abbas announced that Netayahu agreed to A Palestinian State based of the 1967 borders. This was immediately denied by Netanyahus' office. Then there were celebrations in Gaza with speakers proclaiming victory. Then Mark Regev blamed Hamas for prolonging the war by a month unnecessarily. Saying that had they accepted the 'same' terms they signed on now a month ago, they would have saved hundreds of lives. Then Mahmoud Abbas agreeing with him while saying that if Netanyahu did not agree to the 1967 borders he has a few answers for him. What are those answers I wander?
In the meantime the Neo-Nazis occupying forces are carrying out mass abductions in the West Bank, from Hebrone in the South to Jenin in the north, house demolitions, building a six story 'YASHIVA' building in Sheikh Jarrah and to top it all the squatters are burning meadows near Nablus. Where are the PAs' security forces while all this is going on? Carrying the duties they were commissioned to do, I suppose! Protecting the occupation not the occupied.
Is it any wander I can't sleep?
Good night all.

The Neo-Nazi Zionist army, air-force and navy are still pounding Gaza

Good evening all,
The Neo-Nazi Zionist army, air-force and navy are still pounding Gaza killing the innocent children, women and men with no mercy and indiscriminately.
Note that when there is a conflict or atrocity going on somewhere else in the world, the Neo-Nazis ratchet up their aggression and brutality.
The new school year is about to start. In Gaza it has to be delayed because there are no schools still standing for the children to go to. Do you remember the chants of the Neo-Nazis in Tel Aviv ' Schools no more for the children of Gaza '?
As you may recall, few days ago, when the UN formed a commission of inquiry to investigate, possible, war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza committed by both Hamas and the Neo-Natzi armed forces. Hamas welcomed the decision and said " We can't wait ". The Neo-Nazis on the other hand dismissed it as biased and called it " A cangaroo court ".
Both Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have been trying to gain access to Gaza to start documenting the facts and figures and guess what the only democracy in the M.E. said. ACCESS DENIED.
So much for open democracy and the tag ' The most moral army in the world '.
Over to you UN.

War is a Racket by Smedley Butler

War is a Racket by Smedley Butler is a famous speech denouncing the military industrial complex. This speech by two-time Congressional Medal of Honor recipient exposes war profits that benefit few at the expense of many. Throughout his distinguished career in the Marines, Smedley Darlington Butler demonstrated that true patriotism does not mean blind allegiance to government policies with which one does not agree. To Hell with war.                                      >Link to Listen<

Welcome back Jafar Ramini

Jafar Ramini
 London, United Kingdom ·

Good I morning,
How I wish that was true. I am afraid that, as usual, it is not a good morning in Palestine.
Yesterday The Palestinian Center For Human Rights condemned the PA's security force's violent dispersal of a peaceful protest in Hebron on Friday. The protesters were showing their solidarity with hunger-striking prisoners who are still languishing in Israeli jails.
You would have thought that our brothers and sisters in Hebron and elsewhere in Palestine have suffered enough for the last few decades? What with the brutal Israeli occupation and the heartless inhumane illegal settlers stepping on their throats, their lives are made a misery on daily basis. Now, with the disappearance of the three illegal Israeli settler teenagers, the last twelve days have been particularly harrowing. Hundreds of men, women and children rounded up like cattle, at least three dead including a child and many injured and to top all our own 'Security Forces' had to add their penny's worth to the mix.
Why am I not surprised? This is what happens when the USA trained and equipped collaborators are let loose on the public.
Didn't Abu Mazen call the security collaboration with Israel 'SACRED'? Didn't he vow to quell the resistance? Doesn't he still refuse to take Israel to the ICC and ICJ to answer for their crimes of genocide and ethnic cleansing in Palestine?
The whole debacle of the Oslo accord and the creation of The Palestinian Authority was for one purpose and one purpose only, the protection of the occupation and the survival of Israel.
Who knows? One day when I wake up the PA may be dissolved, the occupation will be no more and our land and people will be liberated and free. Now, that will be a glorious morn.

Stop Calling the Iraq War a 'Mistake'

By Dennis Kucinich, Reader Supported News

17 June 14

As Iraq descends into chaos again, more than a decade after "Mission Accomplished," media commentators and politicians have mostly agreed upon calling the war a "mistake." But the "mistake" rhetoric is the language of denial, not contrition: it minimizes the Iraq War's disastrous consequences, removes blame, and deprives Americans of any chance to learn from our generation's foreign policy disaster. The Iraq War was not a "mistake" -- it resulted from calculated deception. The painful, unvarnished fact is that we were lied to. Now is the time to have the willingness to say that.

Coleen Rowley

Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul consistently and articulately spoke out against the Iraq (and other) Wars from the start. They were right all along and are still right on. Politicians however mostly lie and especially lie during wars to avoid blame.

The oligarchical Bush family of generational treason reaching back to the namesake of the two Bush presidents, George Herbert Walker. The way we do anything is the way we do everything. In the same manner that Prescott Bush traded with the Nazi industrial complex against the United States during WWII, so too did both Bush presidents with the Carlyle Trading Group and Bin Laden family.
