RT, ISIS and Nigerian militant group Boko Haram are three of the main entities challenging US power, according to Andrew Lack, the new head of the US Broadcasting Board of Governors. In an interview with the New York Times on Friday, the man charged with running US state media placed RT on a list of threats that also included the infamous terrorist groups, leaving many wondering how an American public official could insinuate that a news organization is somehow comparable to radical extremists. Chris Chambers, journalism professor at Georgetown University, and legal analyst ‘Lionel’ respond to the statement.
