U.N. Official Describes 'Shocking' Scene in Syria Refugee Camp

A top United Nations official has described conditions in a Palestinian refugee camp in the Syrian capital as "shocking."

Filippo Grandi, head of the U.N. Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which cares for Palestinian refugees, visited the Yarmouk camp in Damascus on Sunday. He said he was "deeply disturbed and shaken by what I observed" in the camp, where up to 20,000 people have been trapped for eight months by an army siege.

The UNRWA released a photo taken on Jan. 31, above, which shows a sea of people lining up to receive food supplies.

President Bashar Assad's administration and to a lesser extent rebels fighting to overthrow him have been accused of preventing food and medical care from reaching people in besieged areas of the country.

On Saturday the U.N. Security Council passed a landmark resolution demanding an end to restrictions on humanitarian operations in Syria.  .Link to Shocking Scene<

    I hate to be the one to say I told you so, but it has to be said.

    As you may recall in my latest article 'Kingdom of David' I said that the chief Israeli negotiator Mrs Tzipi Livni hinted that Mr Mahmoud Abbas the head of the PA, might be susceptible to the idea of recognizing Israel as a 'Jewish State' and I warned of the ramifications of such a move.

    Now read the article below and see what is the costly price of apathy, non-engagement and sitting on the fence.

    We allowed them (PA+PLO) to play havoc with our cause and fritter away our lands and our rights. I have been calling upon you to start a referendum amongst all Palestinians in vain.

    I hope that you're not surprised that this has finally happening. Palestinians everywhere are guilty as any other in the PA or the PLO who collaborated with our enemies and sacrificed Palestine in the name pragmatism.
