Mother Teresa once said, " I will never attend an anti-war rally; if you have a peace rally, invite me." A handful of peace activists braved unusually cold Spring weather for a peace rally for Venezuela on the Peace Bridge, on March 25, 2015. Rallies have been held on this bridge linking Minneapolis and St. Paul every Wednesday for over 15 years.

On March 9th the U.S. increased sanctions on Venezuela and Obama signed an executive order declaring Venezuela an “unusual and extraordinary threat to national security." Foreign ministers of the 12-country Union of South American Nations and many members of the Organization of the American States, including Colombia – the U.S. main ally in the region - have called for a revocation of the U.S. sanctions. On April 10th the U.S. and most Latin American countries will be at the Summit of the Americas in Panama where U.S. foreign policy towards the region will be a focus of the meeting’s discussions.

The weekly peace vigil focused on speaking out against the U.S. government's interference in the affairs of the Venezuelan people.
